We are proud to have reduced the use of single-use plastic water bottles by 99% across our operations, marking a major step forward in our journey toward near-zero plastic.

In 2022, we identified single use plastic bottles as a major contributor to our plastic footprint and committed to reducing their use to near zero. Since then, we have banned single-use plastic water bottles across our sites and eliminated plastic water sachets at Lafigué, Houndé and Mana.

Progress continues across our sites. At Houndé, an on-site crusher compacts domestic plastic waste, including bottles generated by local food vendors, before being transported to the nearest licensed recycling facility in Bobo-Dioulasso.

Beyond our operations, we are also supporting the development of local recycling solutions. Through partnerships with local entrepreneurs such as COLIBA Africa in Côte d’Ivoire and Kanté & Brothers in Senegal, we have helped establish recycling centres that process more than 560 tonnes of plastic each year, while supporting over 100 local jobs and waste collectors.

Since the Endeavour Foundation was created in 2021, additional community-led initiatives have included 13 litter clean-up campaigns and the provision of 24 waste bins to 12 local schools in Senegal and Côte d’Ivoire.

By prioritising reduction, reuse and local recycling solutions, we are not only tackling plastic waste but also contributing to stronger local recycling ecosystems and new economic opportunities for our host communities
