PURPOSE & OBJECTIVE 

Reporting to the Fixed Plant Maintenance Manager, the incumbent shall take full responsibility and accountability for the Process Plant Maintenance that includes the Mechanical and Crane and Rigging sections. The main aim of the position is to ensure that all Mechanical maintenance functions are done to a high standard while complying to set safety and legal compliance standards.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

General :

  • Ensure that all Processing Maintenance safety standards are always complied to, and that all Processing Maintenance staff are fully trained in terms of safety processes and procedures.
  • Ensure that all legal compliances are met and incorporated in the Processing Maintenance standards.
  • Strong emphasis on the development of staff and tracking through a high quality and standard Skills Matrix.
  • Progression of staff through quality training and development.
  • Development and set up of a highly qualified and competent team.
  • Ensuring that the Process Plant maintenance team work cohesively with the greater site maintenance teams.
  • Responsible for sign off and commissioning of all mechanical and electrical installations in the Processing Plant.
  • Responsible for the ongoing maintenance on all existing mechanical and electrical installations and systems related to the Process Plant.
  • Ensure that planning is done to a high standard.
  • Ensure that planned shutdowns are conducted in a safe and efficient manner to avoid any deviation in terms of time and scope of work.
  • Overall responsible for the quality of maintenance in all areas related to the Process plant.
  • Ensure that all mechanical and electrical standards are met and maintained for the complete Processing Plant infrastructure.
  • Responsible for adjustments and modifications to the existing Processing plant as and when required.
  • Management of special projects and liaison with different Stakeholders to ensure maximum efficiency and minimum downtime.
  • Responsible for the compilation of the Processing Maintenance departmental budget.
  • Cost control and reporting against forecast and budget.
  • Compiling the Scope of Work for planned and unplanned maintenance.
  • Work closely with the Process Plant Manager to ensure good communication.
  • Investigations and implementation of corrective actions relating to Process Maintenance downtime, failures or any item that impacts on Production.
  • Ensure high availability of Processing assets.
  • Ensuring that all Contractors are vetted to confirm suitability and ensuring that Contractors conduct work on a site acceptable manner.
  • Ensure that Capital and Operational budgets are compiled and communicated within set timelines.
  • Ensure that monthly reporting and cost reviews are accurately completed.
  • Ensure that minor and major planned maintenance is budgeted, scheduled, and executed in a timely manner.
  • Conduct regular VFL (Visible Felt Leadership) walkarounds in the Processing plant to identify areas of non-conformance.
  • Ensure that the Process Plant is maintained to a world class standard.
  • Ensure that preventative work is planned and executed in a safe manner.
  • Ensure excellent housekeeping standards.
  • Ensure continuous improvement in the Process Maintenance section.

Safety Management :

  • Demonstrate personal commitment regarding safety and environmental and Social Responsibility practices.
  • Ensure every person within the team is fit for work.
  • Ensure that agreed procedures, safeguards and controls are applied and used.
  • Ensure all activities are conducted safely and in accordance with Company standards and procedures.
  • Ensure hazard management plans are observed.
  • Keep statutory and internal reporting as required.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

Education :

  • Recognised Mechanical Diploma or Degree.
  • Relevant technical qualifications related to Processing Plant Maintenance.
  • Project Management qualification will be advantageous.

Relevant experience :

  • Minimum 10 years-experience in mineral processing fixed plant maintenance.
  • Mechanical installation and commissioning experience related to Gold Processing Plants.
  • High-level of knowledge of local competencies.
  • French / English language skills preferable.
  • Working experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Experience of working effectively in a senior management team environment.
  • Experience working in multicultural environment, preferably in West Africa.
  • Able to communicate effectively at all levels of the organisation and build effective relationships and networks.
  • Demonstrate strong conceptual skills and be capable of developing lateral and practical solutions.
  • Ability to respond to a changing work environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks at the same time.
  • Reputation for integrity and ethics.
