To mark World Malaria Day on 25 April 2025, Endeavour Mining reaffirmed its commitment to malaria prevention — a critical health priority for our sites and communities in West Africa.
Over the past year, the Group implemented a wide-reaching malaria control strategy, which led to tangible results: Malaria incidence dropped by 36%, from 286 to 184 cases per 1,000 employees, and malaria-related absenteeism fell by 43%, from 5,629 to 3,197 lost workdays. These outcomes were driven by on-site prevention measures including repellent use, protective clothing, residual spraying, mosquito breeding site treatment, and regular fogging.
World Malaria Day was marked across all our sites with awareness-raising activities. At Ity, a community spraying event was held in Zouan-Hounien with participation from local leaders and HSE teams — a reflection of Endeavour’s community-first approach. The day also featured a recognition ceremony honouring outstanding team contributions, and a joint webinar with the Institut Pasteur de Dakar exploring new research and challenges on the path to malaria elimination.
This campaign is part of Endeavour’s three-year malaria action plan, which aligns with our goal to protect the health of employees and surrounding communities, while strengthening partnerships and promoting sustainable impact.
