Tyre management programme as a lever for reducing emissions and operational efficiencies
The efficiency of our fleet is a key pillar of our decarbonisation strategy, as well as optimising our operations. Our comprehensive Tyre Management Programme at Houndé utilises specialised maintenance equipment, real-time monitoring, and analysis software to reduce the need for tyre replacement.
By optimising tyre repairs on site in our maintenance workshops, tread utilisation and fuel efficiency, we optimise fleet performance and reduce costs associated with replacement and the associated environmental footprint.
The programme achieved a total reduction of 1.59kt CO2e since 2021, reducing Scope 1 annual emissions by 0.5%–0.7%. In addition $764,000 was generated in total cost avoidance since 2021.
This is a key example of a multi-impact initiative driving operational excellence which supports our strategy to continue to maintain a high quality portfolio, strengthening the resilience of our business for the long term.
