OBJECTIVE

The Survey Operator supports the Chief Surveyor in setting out, measuring, recording, and verifying earthworks, resettlement and infrastructure works to ensure construction is executed accurately, safely, and in accordance with approved drawings and specifications.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Assist with setting out of earthworks, platforms, roads, drainage, TSF works, and structures.
  • Assist in cut and fill measurements, volume calculations, and progress surveys.
  • Hold and position survey prisms, staffs, pegs, and markers.
  • Assist with topographical surveys and as-built surveys.
  • Help establish and maintain survey control points and benchmarks.
  • Assist with setup and care of total stations, GPS units, levels, and accessories.
  • Ensure survey equipment is handled carefully, stored securely, and kept clean.
  • Report on equipment damage or calibration issues immediately.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

Education:

  • Basic education with numeracy and literacy.
  • Surveying or civil construction training is an advantage but not mandator.

Skills & Attributes:

  • Physically fit and able to work long hours outdoors.
  • Comfortable working in hot, dusty, and remote conditions.
  • Able to follow instructions precisely.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Willingness to learn survey techniques and equipment.
  • Basic understanding of measurements and levels.

Language

  • English and French required.
