THE ROLE
Reporting to the Chief Geologist, the Senior Geologist- Grade Control and RC Drilling purpose will be to Coordinate and supervise all Grade Control drilling activities at the Lafigue mine site within safety and regulatory boundaries.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
General :
- Ensure that all operations are conducted to the highest level of safety standards, environmental and operational best practices.
- Support the infill and near mine drilling programs, including the Advance Grade Control programs.
- Ensure that sampling and QA/QC (Quality Assurance Quality Control) follow established Endeavour Group Guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures for Grade Control processes.
- Support Grade Control Modeling team in regular update of validated grade control models.
- Propose work practice improvement and quality control methodologies.
- Participate in the budget preparation assigned to GC drilling and samples analysis.
- Implements processes, policies, systems, and practices within geology that contribute to effective Grade Control Geology operations.
- Design of drilling patterns and scheduling of drilling programs to meet grade control and mine planning requirements.
- Using an updated geological model to identify areas of further grade control drilling targets.
- Ensure correct Grade Control Drilling and sampling practices are observed and ensure satisfactory samples recovery.
- Conduct extensive QA/QC monitoring to ensure data and interpretations are accurate.
- Participate in routine QA/QC audits on drilling, sampling, and internal laboratory in charge of sample as saying.
- Ensure that drilling and assays are in sequence with the mining plan.
- Validating data in the relevant database to ensure the integrity and reliability of the geological database.
- Compile a summary including drilling meters with justified deviations to be used for reporting within the monthly report.
- Manage drill contractor, following contract specifications.
- Compile weekly, monthly, and quarterly drilling progress reports.
- Validate daily drill reports.
- Coordinating the drilling information and verify contractor invoicing.
HSE and Procedure :
- Maintain a cooperative interest in the health and safety of yourself, your fellow workers, and local communities.
- Always wears Personal Protective Equipment while in the production environment.
- Be alert and observe, correct, and report unsafe conditions.
- Follow all safe work procedures and comply with all national and local regulatory requirements.
- Ensure that work areas follow all Endeavor Health, Safety and Environmental procedure and policies.
- Intervene as necessary, to ensure the safety of others in the workplace.
- Provide safety leadership by always setting a good example.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Geology, Geoscience or Earth Science.
- Experienced in Grade Control, managing RC drilling programs, sampling methods, QA/QC of assay results, accomplished in mapping from prior experience.
- Proven experience managing QA/QC programs and adhering to company policy and procedure.
- Experienced in grade control modeling using different estimation methods.
- Driving license.
- Strong leader capable to drive team to excellence.
- Skilled in database analysis (QA/QC).
- Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks at the same time.
- Able to speak up and voice his view in a multidiscipline environment.
- Ability to collect/interpret field data and integrate in a three-dimensional model.
- Required Experience: At least 5+ years of experience in similar Mine Geology and drilling management-based roles.
- Good communication skills and ability to convey departmental objectives. Fluent in French will be an asset.
- Proficient in the use of Excel, Access, geological databases, Vulcan, Datamine, Gemcom or other software packages.
- Problem-solving skills.
