Reporting to the Vice President Operation, the Mining Manager is responsible for the overall planning, organization and supervision of mining operations. This pivotal role demands a blend of technical expertise, managerial skills, and industry knowledge to ensure that mining activities meet production goals while maintaining cost-effective production, high standards of safety and environmental responsibility. The position requires a thorough understanding of developing and implementing mining plans, regulatory compliance, and workforce management to maintain smooth and productive operations. The Mining Manager may be required to stand in as the General Manager when necessary.

Key Responsibilities
General:
- Championing a proactive safety culture by ensuring compliance with the site’s Safety and Health Management Plan, leading safety initiatives, and fostering open communication across all teams.
- Lead the development, execution, and tracking of the annual Mining Business Plan, driving continuous improvement and embedding best operational standards practice.
- Provide strategic oversight of open pit operations, including short, medium, and long term mine planning, with a focus on optimisation, cost efficiency, and sustainable production outcomes.
- Developing and implementing production plans, monitoring output and costs, and adjusting processes to optimize efficiency.
- Oversee the integration and scheduling of people and equipment to align with mine planning objectives, ensuring efficient and reliable delivery of operational targets.
- Identify operational risks and cost variances early, escalate critical issues with solutions, and implement strategies to meet or exceed physical and financial performance targets.
- Manage departmental budgets, ensuring alignment with unit cost objectives and effective utilisation of site assets to meet production and maintenance goals.
- Recognize operational, technical and safety challenges, take action to prevent or overcome them, and continuously seek improvement
- Contribute to business strategy to improve company’s competitiveness, profitability and growth
- Lead contractor performance within the Mining department on ore haulage and explosive ensuring accountability, safety, and alignment with operational objectives.
- Responsible for ensuring the quality and timely delivery of all actions required within the mining team: MTS, mine operations, mining contractors, and associated teams.
Compliance:
- Promote and adhere to country legal requirements as well as internal methodologies, policies, procedures and standards by consistently maintaining a high quality of work across all allocated functions.
Safety Management:
- Implementing and maintaining a safe work environment, ensuring compliance with all safety regulations, and conducting regular safety audits.
- Demonstrate personal commitment regarding safety, environmental and Social Responsibility practices.
- Ensure all activities are conducted safely and in accordance with Company standards and procedures
- Keep statutory and internal reporting as required.

Position Requirements
Education:
- Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering, Geology or a related field is an added advantage.
- Relevant industry certifications and licenses (e.g. Mining Manager's Certificate).
Relevant Experiences:
- Several years of experience in a managerial role with proven leadership in open pit operations, ideally with experience in production and sound understanding of technical services.
- Strong understanding of mining operations, equipment’s, and processes.
- Strong Leadership and people management skills with the ability to lead and motivate a team of mining professionals.
- French and English language skills are desirable.
- Experience working in multicultural environment.
- Able to communicate effectively at all levels of the organisation and build effective relationships and networks.
- Ability to identify and resolve complex problems, including those related to safety, production, and equipment.
- Understanding of financial principles and the ability to manage budgets and monitor financial performance of the mining department.
