The Maintenance Specialist is responsible for overseeing the maintenance operations of the processing plant, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and safety of equipment and machinery. The role involves managing a team of maintenance technicians, coordinating preventive maintenance schedules, troubleshooting and resolving equipment issues, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. The Maintenance Specialist will also play a key role in managing resources, budgeting, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance plant operations.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage and control the fixed maintenance activities to ensure efficiency throughout ;
- Manage the human resources, facilities, and operational resources of fixed maintenance department ;
- Execute maintenance plans in safe, environmentally compliant and cost effective ;
- Lead and manage plant maintenance team responsible for executing maintenance plans ;
- Execute operational maintenance activities based on equipment maintenance strategies ;
- Oversee maintenance activities such as preventive maintenance, equipment repairs, maintenance tools, training and employee rotation ;
- Direct supervision and QA/QC for maintenance tasks and backlog completion ;
- Develop and implement best practices, processes, policies, and systems within mobile maintenance that align with organization’s goals and maximize operational efficiencies ;
- Liaise with plant operations and other sections to ensure equipment downtimes are coordinated effectively in such a way to achieve the company’s production targets ;
- Control operating costs and manage budget ;
- Set priorities, performance targets and measures, monitor and manage overall performance of direct supervising staff ;
- Provide safety leadership in mobile maintenance activities: conduct safety meetings, safety inspections and hazard recognition taking actions to prevent injuries or loss to production ;
- Demonstrate personal commitment in regard to safety and environmental and Social Responsibility practices ;
- Ensure every person within the team is fit for work ;
- Ensure that agreed procedures, safeguards and controls are applied and used ;
- Ensure all activities are conducted safely and in accordance with Company standards and procedures ;
- Ensure hazard management plans are observed ;
- Keep statutory and internal reporting as required.

Key Requirements
- Diploma in Mechanical engineering or equivalent experience/training.
- Relevant technical qualifications related to reliability standards.
- At least 10 years of technical experience in plant maintenance at senior supervisor and senior planner level.
- At least 5 years of experience in a similar role or higher level.
- Experience with the use of ERP/CMMS equipment maintenance functionality.
- Strong knowledge of maintenance planning and scheduling tools.
- Knowledge of components failure analysis.
- Experience in predictive maintenance / condition monitoring: SOS oil sampling and analysis.
- Strong technical knowledge in gold production plant equipment.
- Previous experience in Africa is an advantage.
- Written and spoken English. French would be an asset.
