The Role

The Lead Project Engineer – Process Plant supports the Area Manager – Process Plant in overseeing delivery of the engineering, procurement, and construction management activities for the process plant scope of the project. Acting as the conduit between engineering, procurement, and construction, the role ensures that outputs are monitored, coordinated, and integrated with downstream construction and commissioning requirements, so that the process plant is delivered in line with agreed scope, schedule, cost, and quality objectives.
The role will initially focus on the Engineering & Procurement (EP) phase, overseeing design deliverables, procurement packages, and recommendations for award. From approximately May 2027 onwards, the position will transition to site on a FIFO roster (6 weeks on & 3 weeks off), supporting the Construction Management (CM) phase with responsibilities for monitoring contractor performance, coordinating construction documentation, and ensuring seamless handover to commissioning and operations.

Key Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities – EP Phase (April 2026 – 12 to 15 months)

Contract & Scope Oversight :

  • Act as the primary day-to-day interface with the Engineer’s Lead Project Engineer.
  • Track and expedite engineering deliverables, procurement packages, and recommendations for award (RFAs).
  • Monitor contract performance against scope, schedule, and milestones; escalate issues to the Area Manager.
  • Maintain registers of deliverables, TQs, change requests, and risks.

Procurement & Contract Support :

  • Coordinate Owner-side reviews of Invitations to Tender (ITTs), Technical Bid Evaluations (TBEs), RFAs (Recommendation for Award), ATCs (Authority to Commit), CAFs (Contract Approval Form), and PCNs (Project Change Notice).
  • Liaise with Owner Procurement and Legal to ensure technical and commercial alignment of contract packages.
  • Ensure vendor clarifications and data submissions are addressed within agreed timeframes.

Interface & Stakeholder Coordination :

  • Manage Owner’s inputs into the EP scope, including standards, battery limits, and operational requirements.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders (Operations, HSE, Maintenance, Corporate) for timely reviews and approvals.
  • Support integration of EP deliverables with downstream construction and commissioning contracts.

Reporting & Risk Management :

  • Provide weekly progress updates to the Area Manager on engineering and procurement status.
  • Highlight emerging risks, potential scope creep, or contractual issues for resolution.
  • Support the Area Manager in maintaining transparency and discipline in contract administration.

Key Responsibilities – CM Phase (May 2027 – September 2028)

Construction Oversight & Progress Tracking :

  • Act as the day-to-day interface between the Client Construction and Area Manager and the Engineer’s CM team to ensure process plant construction deliverables are tracked and expedited.
  • Monitor construction progress reporting provided by the Engineer; verify status against milestones and escalate issues to the Area Manager.
  • Maintain registers of Owner-side actions, RFIs, change requests, and risks relevant to the process plant scope.

QA/QC & Documentation Control :

  • Monitor the Engineer’s administration of QA/QC deliverables, including ITPs, weld/NDT records, test packs, and turnover packages.
  • Expedite the close-out of documentation such as red-line drawings, as-builts, and commissioning handover packages through the Engineer’s CM team.
  • Support resolution of quality issues by escalating unresolved NCRs through the Client Construction Manager.

Interface & Stakeholder Coordination :

  • Coordinate Owner-side inputs into the construction phase (battery limits, operational readiness activities).
  • Work closely with Operations, HSE, and Commissioning teams to ensure Owner requirements are captured in construction execution and handover planning.
  • Facilitate communication between the Client Construction Manager, the Engineer, and Owner’s internal stakeholders.

Reporting & Risk Management :

  • Provide weekly construction progress updates to the Area Manager, consolidating reporting from the Engineer’s CM team.
  • Highlight emerging risks, potential delays, or claims issues for escalation.
  • Maintain documentation to support transparent claims management and change control.

HSE Management :

  • Demonstrate personal commitment to HSE practices and policies.
  • Ensure every person within the team is fit for work.
  • Ensure that agreed safeguards and controls are applied and used, all activities are conducted safely and in accordance with Company standards and procedures, as well as any government regulations.
  • Maintain duty of care obligations and promotion of effective safety systems for all employees and contractors, including responsibility for correcting unsafe acts.
  • Adopt, uphold and actively communicate a Zero Harm philosophy across all Endeavour Mining’s practices.
  • Ensure hazard management plans are observed. 
  • Keep statutory and internal reporting as required.

  • Ensure that agreed Social Performance related safeguards and controls are applied and used, all activities are conducted safely and in accordance with Company standards and procedures, as well as any government regulations.
  • Maintain duty of care obligations and promotion of effective Social Performance initiatives during construction.

Key Requirements

Education:

  • Relevant trade qualifications and experience.
  • Engineering degree or tertiary qualifications preferred.

Relevant experience:

  • 7–10 years of project engineering or project management experience in the mining or mineral processing industry (gold preferred) or similar heavy process industries. Experience on projects in West Africa is desirable.
  • Tertiary qualification in Process, Mechanical, Civil, or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent relevant discipline).
  • Direct experience supporting Engineering & Procurement (EP) contracts.
  • Exposure to construction management oversight from the Owner’s perspective, including progress tracking, QA/QC deliverables, and commissioning handover documentation.
  • Strong organisational skills with proven ability to maintain registers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to prepare clear progress and risk reporting for senior management.
  • Proactive mindset with a demonstrated ability to take initiative and drive results.
  • Proficiency in project and construction management software (e.g. MS Project, Primavera P6, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships across contractors, consultants, and Owner’s teams.
  • Commercial awareness with the ability to align contract, progress, and cost outcomes to company objectives.
  • Exposure to project cost control and contract administration on projects with capital value of USD 100M plus.
