The Role
The Infrastructure Superintendent excels in on-site leadership and supervision of camp infrastructure and architectural building projects. Stationed full-time at the construction site, this role ensures that building works are executed safely, on time, within budget, and to specified quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate all field operations, including camp facilities and architectural building construction—ensuring daily tasks are executed to plan and specifications.
- Conduct daily site inspections, monitor progress against schedules, and resolve on-site conflicts efficiently.
- Enforce strict safety protocols and quality control procedures to ensure full compliance with industry, regulatory, and company standards.
- Manage costs to remain within budget. Approve commitments and costs in accordance with Delegation of Authority.
- Following cost control and change management procedures.
- Manage the work progress to complete on schedule.
- Coordinate with supervisors, suppliers, and vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials and seamless site logistics.
- Prepare and submit daily reports detailing progress, manpower utilization, material usage, and safety incidents.
- Facilitate morning briefings and end-of-day walkthroughs to align the crew and identify next steps.
- Liaise closely with Infrastructure Managers, Architects, Engineers, and inspectors to address technical queries, approvals, and coordination requirements.
- Maintain site organization, cleanliness, and professional presentation to uphold safety, efficiency, client expectations, etc.
- Implement and manage site safety plans and toolbox talks; monitor adherence to PPE and other safety protocols.
- Monitor and pace project schedules; adjust site workflows to prevent bottlenecks or delays.
- Verify quality of work, inspect installations, and ensure alignment with construction drawings, specifications, and standards.
- Log site data—manpower, equipment, material status—and escalate issues or change requests to management as necessary.
- Assist in cost tracking by identifying potential budget variances or deviations and facilitating change order documentation when needed.
- Verify material deliveries and ensure correct installation.
- Prepare daily reports of site progress, manpower, and equipment utilization.
- Support the Infrastructure Manager with site-level coordination and issue resolution. Maintain duty of care obligations and promotion of effective Social Performance initiatives during construction.
- Oversee day-to-day execution of camp construction, architectural buildings, and related civil/structural works.
- Ensure safety, quality, and productivity standards are implemented in the field.
- Supervise subcontractors and site crews during construction.
Position Requirements
- Relevant trade qualifications and experience.
- Civil Engineering degree or tertiary qualifications preferred.
- 10–15 years of project execution infrastructure projects or similar Experience on projects in West Africa is desirable.
- Qualification in Civil Engineering (or equivalent relevant discipline).
- Direct experience managing same or similar type of the projects.
- Exposure to construction management oversight from the Owner’s perspective, including progress tracking, QA/QC deliverables, and commissioning handover documentation.
- Strong organisational skills with proven ability to maintain registers.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to prepare clear progress and risk reporting for management.
- Proactive mindset with a demonstrated ability to take initiative and drive results.
- Proficiency in project and construction management software (e.g. MS Project, Primavera P6, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships across contractors, consultants, and Owner’s teams.
- Commercial awareness with the ability to align contract, progress, and cost outcomes to company objectives.
Contract type: 24 months (from March 2026 - could be renewed and extended)
