The Role

The Country Security Manager is responsible for leading Endeavour Mining’s national security strategy and security public affairs engagement within the assigned country. This role ensures that national-level security perspectives are integrated into operational decision-making and that the company maintains strong, constructive relationships with governmental institutions, security forces, and intelligence agencies.
The position serves as a critical interface between national security stakeholders and site-level operations, ensuring that strategic advice and situational awareness are effectively translated into operational readiness. The Country Security Manager works closely with internal security functions and contributes to the Group’s intelligence and governance framework through structured reporting and coordination.

Key Responsibilities

National Security Engagement & Public Affairs:

  • Establish and maintain relationships with key national institutions, including Ministries of Defense and Interior, intelligence services, and security forces.
  • Represent Endeavour Mining in strategic security dialogues and ensure alignment with national security frameworks.
  • Monitor and interpret national political and security developments that may impact operations.
  • Follow the VPSHR dialogue with national authorities and in coordination with the VPSHR manager

Operational Coordination:

  • Act as the national security liaison for site operations, ensuring that national-level intelligence and recommendations are integrated into local decision-making and risk/threat assessment.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Security Operations and Director of Security Intelligence & Risk aligning national and site-level security strategies.
  • Support crisis management and incident response with national-level insights and coordination.

Intelligence Integration:

  • Work closely with the Director of Threat & Risk Intelligence and the network of SVIs to ensure comprehensive understanding of the “glocal” (global + local) threat environment.
  • Validate and contextualize intelligence inputs from national sources and field-level observations.

Governance & Reporting:

  • Participate in weekly security coordination meetings and quarterly strategic security reviews.
  • Produce an annual Political & Security Review for the assigned country, including risk forecasts and strategic recommendations.
  • Issue short-term security perspectives and alerts as needed to support operational planning and executive decision-making.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Facilitate dialogue between business operations and national security institutions to ensure mutual understanding and support.

Position Requirements

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Master’s degree in security management, Political Science, International Relations, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in national security, public affairs, or strategic security roles, preferably in the mining or extractive industries.
  • Proven experience in engaging with governmental institutions and managing sensitive security relationships.
  • Strong understanding of geopolitical dynamics and national security structures in West Africa.
  • Fluency in English and French is required.
  • High ethical standards and discretion in handling sensitive information.
