This role is critical to the success of Ity's processing plant, playing a key role in maintaining productivity and safety levels and standards.

The role
Reporting to the Process Superintendent, the Senior Operations Supervisor provides overall (shift) management of the operating teams through the Process Team Supervisors to maintain the process plant in a stable operating condition. This role is critical to the success of Ity's processing plant, playing a key role in maintaining productivity and safety levels and standards.
Level of studies
Minimum of 4 to 6 years' experience in an operational gold processing plant.
Key responsibilities
- Lead efforts to complete incident reports and investigations as soon as possible after an incident.
- Manage the consumption of consumable stocks in the workplace and arrange for their replenishment if stock levels are lower.
- Raise work requests for all maintenance tasks, before for planned work and after for breakdowns.
- Facilitate human resource management tasks, timesheet formulation, leave requests and roster planning.
- Assess operators according to their skills, as prescribed by the process training coordinator.
- Manage high level HCN gas events and follow up to implement preventative measures. Manage all field operations directed by the Process Supervisor, i.e. Control Room, Primary Crusher, Hopper Mill Feed, Pebble Crusher, SAG Grinding, Ball Mill, Gravity and ILR, Waste Screening and Thickening prior to Leaching, Cyclone, Carbon in Leach, Pollution, Tailings Treatment and Tailings Disposal.
- Develop a culture of safety, efficiency, availability and utilisation to ensure production targets are met and minimise production losses.
- Lead plant start-up and shutdown activities by assisting the Process Supervisor in coordinating field activities.
- Lead efforts to ensure that the plant is cleaned continuously throughout the shift and is in a safe state of cleanliness for handover at the end of each shift.
- Follow plant escalation procedure for notification of unforeseen events.
Position requirements

- Experience of working in a supervisory role.
- Full command of English.

- Business or technical degree in mineral processing or geology or chemistry or process engineering
- Experience of control room operations.
- CIL plant experience.
