Executive Management

Sébastien de Montessus , CEO & President

Sébastien de Montessus is President and CEO of Endeavour Mining. Under his leadership, he has introduced key strategic objectives that have created a sustainable business that generates long term cash flow.

Previously, Sébastien served as the CEO of the La Mancha Group for four years between 2012 and 2016. Under his leadership, La Mancha doubled its production through optimization efforts before undergoing a significant portfolio restructuring. Prior to this, Sébastien was a member of the Executive Board and Group Deputy CEO of AREVA Group, a leading nuclear energy company and CEO of AREVA Mining, which focused on uranium assets. He has also served as a Board member of Evolution Mining (2015 - 2018) and ERAMET (2010 - 2012).

Before joining AREVA in 2002, Sébastien was an investment banker at Morgan Stanley in London specializing in M&A and Equity Capital Markets. Sébastien is a business graduate from ESCP-Europe Business School in Paris.

Louis Irvine , Executive VP, Chief Financial Officer

Louis Irvine was appointed Chief Financial Officer of Endeavour Mining in July 2019, bringing with him more than 24 years of experience in the mining industry with extensive expertise in finance, accounting, treasury, strategy and business development.

Prior to joining Endeavour, Louis held a number of executive finance roles at leading international mining companies including BHP Billiton (CFO Carbon Steel Materials) and Xstrata (CFO Xstrata Copper). He joined Endeavour from Anglo American where he served as Executive Head of Strategy and Business Development for Base Metals for six years, and before that as the company’s Chief Financial Officer for Copper.

Louis is a qualified chartered accountant.

Mark Morcombe , Chief Operating Officer

Mark Morcombe joined Endeavour Mining in May 2019 as Chief Operating Officer, bringing with him more than 25 years of experience in the mining industry with extensive expertise in leading safety, environment, mine planning, cost and productivity initiatives.

Prior to joining Endeavour, Mark was Chief Operating Officer of Centamin Plc, operator of the Sukari Mine in Egypt, and before this, he held the same role at Acacia Mining. Between late 2010 and April 2016, he held several senior roles at AngloGold Ashanti, including Senior Vice President, Planning and Business Development and Senior Vice President Ghana, during which he led the Obuasi gold mine turnaround project.

Mark holds a degree in Mining Engineering from the Western Australian School of Mines.

Pascal Bernasconi , Executive VP Public Affairs, CSR, and Security

Pascal Bernasconi is Endeavour Mining’s Executive VP for Public Affairs, CSR and Security.

Pascal joined Endeavour from the La Mancha Group, where he was General Manager of Société des Mines d’Ity, bringing with him significant experience managing complex operating environments. He began his career in the nuclear industry at COGEMA, where he managed a large nuclear site in France for five years before moving to Areva’s mining operations in Kazakhstan and in Niger.

Pascal holds a PhD in Physics and Chemistry from Université Nancy 1 and a diploma in finance controlling.

Patrick Bouisset , Executive VP Exploration & Growth

Patrick Bouisset joined Endeavour Mining as the Executive Vice President of Exploration in November 2015, with over 30 years of experience in mining and oil and gas exploration.

Prior to joining Endeavour Mining, he was Executive Vice President Exploration and New Ventures of La Mancha and before that, Vice President of Geoscience for Areva’s Business Group. For six years, as a member of the executive committee of Areva Mines, he led worldwide exploration activities and managed all of its not yet producing subsidiaries. Before joining Areva in 2007, he spent more than 20 years overseas during his career with Total, leading all of the company’s exploration activities in Africa.

Patrick holds a master’s degree in Geology from Orleans University.

Morgan Carroll , Executive VP Corporate Finance & General Counsel

Morgan Carroll joined Endeavour Mining in 2008 and has over 15 years of experience in mining finance and advisory.

During his career, Morgan initially practiced as a mining lawyer at a large multinational law firm in New York and London, and then advised US and European banks on base metals, precious metals, and oil and gas deals. Throughout his career, his areas of focus have been corporate and project finance, debt and equity capital markets, M&A, joint ventures, Board-level governance and corporate development.

Morgan is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin (LL.B, Ling. Germ.) and the University of London (LL.M). He was admitted as an Attorney in the State of New York and as a Solicitor in England & Wales.

Henri de Joux , Executive VP People and IT

Henri de Joux joined Endeavour Mining as Executive Vice President of People and IT in October 2016.

Prior to this, Henri served as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Strategy Officer of Business France. Before joining Business France, he served as Group Deputy General Secretary and company secretary of France Telecom-Orange, overseeing governance, public affairs, real estate, insurance, group policies for the company and supervising support functions throughout the organization. During his career, Henri has also held various positions within the Telecom-Orange Group and served as a Director of Mobinil Telecommunications and Jordan Telecom, as well as a Member of the Supervisory Board at Telekomunikacja Polska SA.

In addition to holding a law degree, Henri is a graduate of the EM Lyon Business School. He holds an Auditor qualification the Institute of Higher National Defence Studies (IHEDN).

Endeavour’s Board of Directors has extensive and diverse experience in corporate governance, geology, mining, political, accounting, finance and African diplomatic relations. The Board is currently composed of seven Directors, six of which are independent and non-executive.

Michael E. Beckett, Chairman, Non-executive Director

Michael E. Beckett is Chairman of the Board of Endeavour Mining. With more than 45 years’ experience in the mining sector, he has been involved in the development of some of the world’s largest gold mines in the USA, Africa and Papua New Guinea; iron ore mines in West Australia; industrial minerals in the Ukraine, Russia and Indonesia; and platinum mines in South Africa. He was previously Chairman of Ashanti Goldfields, WBB Minerals, Clarkson, the Thomas Cook Group and MyTravel and Managing Director of Consolidated Gold Fields.

James Askew, Non-Executive Director

Jim Askew is a mining engineer with more than 45 years of international and technical expertise. He has served as Chief Executive Officer and board member for a number of publicly listed mining companies, and brings a wealth of experience in design, construction and operations of both open pit and underground mines. Jim is currently Chairman of Syrah Resources and a non-executive director of Evolution Mining. He has previously served on the boards of several resource public companies, including OceanaGold (Chairman November 2006 – July 2019).

Sofia Bianchi, Non-Executive Director

Sofia Bianchi is a finance professional with over 30 years of experience. During her career she played a leading role in the establishment of the first dedicated African infrastructure fund focused on financing private sector infrastructure projects as Deputy Managing Director of the Emerging Africa Infrastructure Fund. She is the Founding Partner of Atlante Capital Partners, which specializes in investing in structurally undervalued businesses in emerging markets, and currently Head of Special Situations, as well as a Member of the Investment Committee for Debt and Infrastructure, at the CDC Group plc, a development finance institution. She is currently an independent non-executive director of Yellow Cake plc and Sitex SA and served on the Board of Kenmare Resources plc from 2008 to 2017. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the George Washington University and an MBA from The Wharton School.

Olivier Colom, Non-executive Director

Olivier Colom is a former French diplomat and diplomatic adviser to President Nicolas Sarkozy, with extensive experience of African affairs. In his role as diplomatic advisor to President Nicolas Sarkozy, he was responsible for international economic matters, climate change negotiations, development aid and global governance reform, as well as preparations for international summits including the G20, G8, United Nations and French-speaking nations. At the French Foreign Office, he helped to reform France’s development aid program before specializing in European Union affairs. Olivier is currently the Chairman of OC Advisory. From 2013 to 2016, he was a member of the Edmond de Rothschild Group’s Executive Committee, holding first the position of international adviser and then of Secretary General. He holds a degree in General Public Law (Sorbonne) and a master’s degree in international law from Paris X University.

Livia Mahler, Non-executive Director

Livia Mahler brings strong expertise in corporate governance to the Board, having sat on a number of Audit and Compensation committees during her career. Livia is currently an independent director and Chair of the Compensation Committee and member of the Audit Committee at Ivanhoe Mines. Prior to this, Livia served on the Audit and Compensation committees of Diversified Royalty Corp., Turquoise Hill Resources and DuSolo Fertilizers. She is a co-founder, President and Chief Executive Officer of Computational Geosciences, of Vancouver, Canada, which provides technological solutions to maximize the value of geophysical exploration surveys. She also is co-founder and managing partner of Greenstone Venture Partners, a Vancouver-based venture-capital fund targeting private, early-stage, information technology companies, and previously was Senior Investment Manager in the Venture Capital Division of the Business Development Bank of Canada. Livia has an MBA degree from the University of British Columbia (Canada) and a Bachelor of Science degree from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

Wayne McManus, Non-executive Director

Wayne McManus currently works in the private banking sector, providing accounting and wealth management services for high net worth clients. He has an LLM in taxation, a JD, and an MBA and has more than 20 years of academic experience in the accounting field. He is also a Certified Public Accountant, holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a member of the CFA Institute.

Naguib Sawiris, Non-executive Director

Naguib Sawiris is Chairman of the Advisory Board of La Mancha, Chairman of the Board of Orascom TMT Investments, Executive Chairman of Orascom Investment Holding and a non-executive director of Golden Star Resources. Mr. Sawiris serves on a number of additional boards, committees and councils including the London Stock Exchange Group’s Africa Advisory Group, and the Arab Thought Foundation. The Sawiris family has substantial interests in the telecom, construction, fertilizer, cement, real estate and hotel development industries and other businesses. Mr. Sawiris founded Orascom Telecom Holding and developed it into a leading regional telecom player until a merger with VimpelCom Ltd created the world’s sixth largest mobile telecommunications provider. Mr. Sawiris has received a number of honorary degrees, industry awards and civic honors, including the “Légion d’honneur”, the highest award given by the French Republic for outstanding services rendered to France, the honor of Commander of the Order of the “Stella della Solidarietà Italiana”, and the prestigious “Sitara-e-Quaid-e-Azam” award for services rendered to the people of Pakistan in the field of telecommunications, investments and social sector work. Mr. Sawiris holds a diploma of Mechanical Engineering with a Masters in Technical Administration from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich ETH Zürich and a Diploma from the German Evangelical School, Cairo, Egypt.
